Venedikt Erofeev is a bright and controversial phenomenon in Russian literature. His famous poem “Moscow - Petushki”, written back in 1970, is a kind of philosophical parable, a work out of time, because Erofeev created in the book his own world, his own universe, in the center of which is “man, as the meeting place of all planes of existence.” . First appearing on the pages of the magazine "Sobriety and Culture" in 1988, the poem "Moscow - Petushki" became a true revelation for readers and was later translated into many languages of the world.
In this edition, this masterpiece by Erofeev is published accompanied by detailed comments by Eduard Vlasov , which, like the poem itself, can rightfully be called an “encyclopedia of Soviet life.” Published for the first time in 1998, E. Yu. Vlasov’s comments have since been republished several times.
