The collection of incredibly funny stories "While Mom's at Work" is a winner of the national "Manuscript of the Year" literary award.
Her mom works so much that over the years of school, Sveta Ermolaeva has accumulated a thick stack of notes for her teachers. They all say roughly the same thing: Sveta can come and go from classes on her own and generally do whatever she wants. Like Pippi Longstocking, who lived alone in a villa at age nine because her father was a sea captain. But unlike Pippi, Sveta doesn’t have a suitcase full of gold coins. On September 1st, Sveta Ermolaeva plans to start a new life. And that new life will begin with her school diary. Unlike last year, Sveta is going to keep it meticulously. There won't be any behavior notes every week. All her homework will be written in beautiful handwriting. And Sveta will also learn to sew, knit, bead, and write a fantastic bestseller novel.
Ha-ha! Things went a little bit off-plan. A little bit sideways.
And once again, Sveta will have to figure it all out on her own.
