Olga Verbitskaya : Mouse the Chef. Children's picture book.
The usual price $19.95Mouse the Chef is the main character of a culinary mystery for toddlers. He is expecting a dear guest – Mishka the teddy bear – and is preparing an elaborate treat with a secret ingredient. But here's the catch: the most important product, the milk, has vanished from the pot. Where did it go, and who stole it? Mouse rushes off to search his neighbors' homes – the mommy rabbit, the squirrel, the hedgehog; he even sneaks into the owl's hollow, even though he's terrified of falling into her clutches. He peeks into his neighbors' pots, but he still doesn't find the thief. On the other hand, the young reader, along with Mouse the Chef, learns that hedgehogs eat mushrooms, bunnies love carrots, and squirrels snack on nuts.
But his guest Mishka didn't go hungry. Yes, the pot was empty, but the secret ingredient remained intact: fragrant honey with the scent of summer. And the friends, hugging each other, feast on the sweet treat and gaze at the starry sky, where the Milky Way is spread out.
With the help of adults, the young reader will have to guess where the milk disappeared to. A special pleasure is examining the forest apartments of Mouse and his neighbors, with their charming domestic details: jars of preserves, laundry hanging out to dry, strings of dried mushrooms, little rugs, and polka-dot tea sets.
