The collection "The Horse with the Pink Mane," published by Omega in the "School Library" series, includes largely autobiographical works by V. Astafiev that tell of a bright and happy time of rural childhood. Among them are "Vasyutka's Lake," "The Photograph Where I Am Not," "Why Did I Kill the Corncrake," "Autumn Sorrows and Joys," and, of course, "The Horse with the Pink Mane." Imbued with faith in humanity and its moral strength, these stories are distinguished by a truthful portrayal of folk characters and the atmosphere of that time, a special warmth of narrative tone, and are dedicated to the theme of the maturation of the younger generation. The works in the collection are included in the school curriculum for extracurricular reading and are addressed to middle school-age children. The texts of the stories are presented unabridged, printed on high-quality paper in a large font with the letter 'Ё', and contain color illustrations by I. Minkina.
