Before you is a collection of folktales from around the world, blending a multitude of unique "ingredients"—tales from Europe, Asia, Africa, America, and even the islands of the Indian Ocean. The book was first published in 1993, and for over thirty years now, readers have been diving headfirst into this colorful whirlpool of magical stories and marveling at the astonishing diversity of its illustrations.
The artist Gennady Kalinovsky found a distinct visual language for each tale: its own color palette, its own technique, and its own unique mood.
