Janusz Korczak's novellas "Summer in Michałówka" and "Summer in Wilhelmówka" ("Moski, Joski i Srule" and "Jozki, Jaski i Franki") were first published in Warsaw in 1910–1911. It is striking how relevant and modern books written over 100 years ago can be, and how Korczak's style and ideas have not aged over time.
One truly wishes to visit those summer camps along with those children: to compete for the right to eat a crust of bread, serve as a juror in court, build ships in the trees, gather a basket of mushrooms, or listen to those very stories told by Janusz Korczak himself before falling asleep.
The novella "Summer in Michałówka" is published in the classic translation by Kinga Senkiewicz. The novella "Summer in Wilhelmówka," as well as the eighth chapter from "Summer in Michałówka," are published in Russian for the first time in a translation by Victoria Fedorova.
