There's a commotion in Moscow: a real live lion is calmly wandering through the city! People have hidden in their homes, some have climbed trees, and firefighters and police are scouring the streets! What happened? Well, the lion simply left the zoo and headed to the airport to fly to Africa—because he was told that Africa is his homeland. This dynamic, fun, and very modern fairy tale about the adventures of the lion, his friend Lyosha, and what it means to have a homeland was written by the wonderful Soviet writer Yuri Yakovlev. The lively and humorous illustrations by master book illustrator Anatoly Eliseev capture the character of this unusual fairy tale with incredible precision.
