woman in white
William Wilkie Collins is a classic of English literature of the 19th century, who went down in history as the founder of modern detective literature. The key to the success of Collins's works, from whose pen twenty-three novels and four collections of short stories and short stories came out, was a combination of various genres: the writer skillfully combined melodrama, detective story and morality novel in his books, generously seasoning them with elements of the Gothic novel.
It was in this style that Collins' most famous novel, The Woman in White, was written. It is based on a fascinating story about a dark crime, the secret of which is hidden behind the image of a mysterious woman dressed in a white dress.
