After falling from a branch, Yakari tumbles into the river of oblivion and loses his memory. He is rescued by a She-Bear, who is convinced that Yakari is her missing cub. Now she must teach him how to be a real bear so that the spirit—the Black Forest Giant—will lift the curse and restore his true form.
The graphic stories about Yakari have become a classic, translated into many languages around the world. Derib and Job have created a wonderful world filled with true friendship, heroic deeds, and mutual support. At the same time, they have managed to pay due attention to Native American culture and the psychology of their characters. The Yakari books have inspired several directors to create animated series and a feature-length animated film.
