There are books that everyone likes: children and parents, boys and girls, little kids and big kids. The Incredible Story of the Giant Pear" is one of them, which is not surprising: the author is Jacob Strid, a Dane, the heir to the great and mighty Scandinavian children's literature.
The main characters - a cat and an elephant - undertake a dangerous sea voyage to save their friend from a mysterious island. And they sail on a pear, which serves as both a ship and a home. In this incredible fairy tale, the text and illustrations play equally important roles and do not exist without each other, but together they make this book a bomb! By the way, this phenomenon is called synergy: this is when the components work poorly separately, but when combined, they perform much better. But that's just us, we suddenly decided to show off our knowledge... And "The Incredible Story of the Giant Pear" is a bit reminiscent of "The Talking Package" by Gerald Durrell: there is also a secret message, and exciting adventures, and animals, and magic, and a dragon.
This year a very nice full-length cartoon based on this fairy tale was released, it is quite close to the text, although there are some differences. Some scenes on the screen are mesmerizingly beautiful, for example, the journey through the ink sea: lights flash in the darkness, fireworks sparkle, ghosts flicker (not scary ones). I think every child would want to be there at least for a minute.
This story has a very hopeful ending, it leaves room for imagination and does not reveal all the secrets, so let's cross our fingers for a sequel!
