Early (at two years of age or even earlier) teaching reading using a special set of cards (Doman cards) is perhaps the most common application of Glenn Doman’s methods. The main idea of teaching is for the child to memorize the whole word, instead of putting it together from letters and syllables; the main technique is repeated short-term demonstration of the card simultaneously with pronouncing the written word.
