Royal Herald correspondent Maggie Smith has lost her most precious tool - her telephone. Magpie, without hesitation, flies to the detective bureau of the ermine Tom Pax. She guessed: the phone was stolen by the detective's assistant little squirrel Rick - what you won't do for fame!
But Tom Pax is sure: not everything is so simple. From Maggie's phone, the inhabitants of the forest receive strange messages with recipes and poems. And calls - but only rustling sounds are heard in the receiver. It’s an amazing thing: everyone has an alibi, but at the crime scene there is no evidence: no hair, no traces.
