Life in the Far Woods can hardly be called peaceful: not a day goes by without crimes, chases, suspicions, and beastly intrigues. Finally, all the books of Anna Starobinets' "Beastly Detective" series — "The Wolf's Den," "The Predator's Right," "Claws of Wrath," and "The Pickpocket" — are published under one cover.
Each book is a separate detective story in which the investigation is led by an elderly and experienced investigator, Badger Senior, and his assistant, the bold and desperate Badgercat.
All the characters in this book series are animals, yet they are just as capable as we are of loving and hating, lying and speaking the truth to one's face, trusting and despairing, betraying and saving. Sorting out who is a friend and who is a foe, who is an innocent fluffy victim and who is a fatal predatory female, who is a hostage and who is an invader, is only possible at the end, because according to the rules of the genre, the criminal remains unknown until the very finale. But then again, it’s plain as day that all the stories are written with humor and irony, and the plots will captivate not only children but their parents as well.
The continuation of "Beastly Detective" is "Mango Gods".
