Kashtanka, a cross between a dachshund and a mongrel, once got lost, leaving her usual home with the carpenter and his son Fedyushka, where she slept under the workbench and lay in shavings. On the street, Kashtanka was picked up by a strange stranger, in whose house a completely different, unusual life awaited her. But no matter how good it was in the new house, Kashtanka did not forget the former owners.
