James Herriot: All Creatures Great and Small

The funny and touching animal stories by English author and veterinarian James Herriot have been translated into dozens of languages. His good-natured humor, keen observation, and brilliant gift as a storyteller have been winning over new readers for decades, never ceasing to amaze with how interesting stories from a "cow doctor's" practice can be. And it goes without saying how far from routine a rural veterinarian's daily life is! Try, for example, to reason with a raging bull, or budge a stubborn pig, or turn a stall into an operating room, all while keeping in mind the sharp teeth and hooves of your four-legged patients—large and small, beautiful and intelligent, wise and wonderful. This edition presents three collections of stories by James Herriot; the author turns to the early years of his veterinary practice in Darrowby, a fictional town that reflects the characteristics of Thirsk, where the world-famous James Herriot Museum is now located.
