How can a girl made of snow look like? Most often, the artists illustrating this fairy tale draw the Snow Maiden not like other characters - pretty, necessarily white-faced and blue-eyed. She is different, special, a real "snow child". But Marina Uspenskaya (1925-2007), in one of her early books, chose a completely different path. Try to guess from her drawings of 1955 which of the girls is the Snow Maiden! Ouspenskaya focused on completely different moments of history - the daily life of the village and the change of seasons. In illustrations, sketches and surviving versions of drawings, the artist depicted in detail children's games and fun, daily rural worries, but did not even try to imagine either the moment of the birth of the Snow Maiden, or the moment of her departure. The magical girl, as it were, dissolved in the world created by Marina Uspenskaya, turned into an integral part of the cycle of nature.
