In The Treasure of the Red Rakkam, the reader is waiting for the continuation of the eleventh adventure of Tintin. In the previous part of the “The Secret of the Unicorn” dilogy, he managed to decipher the ancient parchments of Chevalier Francois da Addock and establish the exact coordinates of the place where the ship wrecked, commanded by this glorious ancestor of Captain Haddock. In the second part, Tintin and Captain Haddock charter the Sirius trawler and go in search of the treasure of the Red Rakkam, the leader of the pirates. According to them, the jewels are still on board the Unicorn frigate, which sank at the end of the 17th century near a small tropical island. The eccentric Professor Tournesol gets on board the Sirius with his new invention - a miniature submarine. The hard-to-ear professor terribly annoys the captain, but it is Tournesol who is destined to play a key role in the upcoming expedition ...

The Adventures of Tintin is a world-famous comic book series by the Belgian artist Georges Remy, who worked under the pseudonym Hergé. Investigating mysterious incidents, the young reporter Tintin finds himself in the "hot spots" of the planet, where important events take place. Hergé's stories are full of secrets, mysteries and unexpected twists. Danger lurks at every step of his hero. But thanks to ingenuity, courage and resourcefulness, Tintin emerges victorious from any troubles. And no matter what happens, his faithful friend is always nearby - the snow-white fox terrier Milu.

"The Treasure of the Red Rakkam" occupies a special place in the series. Firstly, according to official statistics, this is the world's best-selling volume of The Adventures of Tintin; secondly, it is in it that Professor Tournesol first appears (see below); and thirdly, this album began, albeit short, but extremely fruitful collaboration between Hergé and Edgar P. Jacobs (Edgar Pierre Jacobs, 1904–1978), the future author of Blake and Mortimer.
