Victor Dragunsky (1913 - 1972) entered children's literature quite late, after forty years. His "Deniska Stories", of course, aroused the stormy indignation of literary officials, and, of course, literally in one minute won the hearts of schoolchildren and their parents, as soon as the first book of the cycle "The Secret of the Baby Carriage" with illustrations by V. Chizhikov was published.
Since then, Deniska Korablev has become one of the most beloved heroes of young readers. Immediacy, kindness, a thirst for justice and the ability to laugh at oneself - these real masculine qualities invariably attract boys and girls who read again and again about the adventures of their restless peer.
